Michael Kinney received his 1st Degree Black Belt at the age of 18 on February 27, 1969 from instructor Dale Tompkins.
Dick Kearns was Mr. Kinney’s first Aikido instructor.
Mr. Kinney was the first Black Belt promoted within the new Tang Soo Do/Karate Association formed by Mr. Tompkins.
Mr. Kinney has since promoted over 1,000 Black Belts within the Kinney Karate system.
In 1976, Mr. Kinney was presented his 3rd Degree Black Belt by long time friend, Martial Arts World Champion, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace.
Mr. Kinney was an influential competitor during early years of tournament Karate.
